For Rajkumar the return to civilisation has been a strange experience.

When he began speaking at the press conference in Bangalore Thursday, he began feebly. "I am surprised to be here, it's like a dream," he whispered.

A kind lady doctor asked me to pretend that I was ill. I did. And Veerappan agreed to let me go," Rajkumar told the media at Vidhana Soudha half-an-hour after landing in Bangalore Thursday.

Kannada film star Rajkumar will be presented to the press at the Vidhana Soudha at 12:15 PM Thursday.

The actor will first meet Chief Minister S M Krishna.

Rajkumar will arrive at the Jakkur airstrip from Singampettai in Erode district of Tamil Nadu in a Karnataka government helicopter.

He is likely to arrive at the Jakkur aerodrome within a couple of hours.

Actor Rajkumar has been released by Veerappan.

He was released at 4:30 AM IST, and was escorted out of the forests by an unidentified granite quarry-owner.

Information emanating from Chennai said that the actor is now in the Sathyamangalam area, near Gajanur.

He may be brought to Chennai, according to reports - and later to Bangalore. However, he may also be flown to Bangalore directly.

The other hostage, Nagesh, has been released too.

Rajkumar will be flown in a helicopter.
